Predicting Map-Matching Values using GPS Data from Navigation Software

چکیده
Data We have a large number (~2,000,000) of data points obtained from a GPS tracking software called CoPilot Live, available from ALK Technologies. The data are sampled from participating users’ devices at 3-second intervals. Each ID represents a trip made by a certain user. There are about 1300 users, scattered around the United States. The average user’s recorded travel time is about 90 minutes. A sample of our data is shown in Figure 1:

GPS/MEMS INS Data Fusion and Map Matching in Urban Areas
This paper presents an evaluation of the map-matching scheme of an integrated GPS/INS system in urban areas. Data fusion using a Kalman filter and map matching are effective approaches to improve the performance of navigation system applications based on GPS/MEMS IMUs. The study considers the curve-to-curve matching algorithm after Kalman filtering to correct mismatch and eliminate redundancy. ...
متن کاملMovement Pattern Recognition Assisted Map Matching for Pedestrian/Wheelchair Navigation
Today’s mobile technology features several sensors that when integrated can provide ubiquitous navigation assistance to pedestrians including wheelchair users. Common sensors found in most smartphones are Global Positioning System (GPS), accelerometer, and compass. In this paper, a user’s movement pattern recognition algorithm to improve map matching efficiency and accuracy in pedestrian/wheelc...
متن کاملRoad Reduction Filtering for GPS-GIS Navigation
A novel method of map matching using the Global Positioning System (GPS) has been developed for civilian use, which uses digital mapping data to infer the <100 metres systematic position errors which result largely from “selective availability” (S/A) imposed by the U.S. military. The system tracks a vehicle on all possible roads (road centre-lines) in a computed error region, then uses a method...
متن کاملAn Improved Map-Matching Technique Based on the Fréchet Distance Approach for Pedestrian Navigation Services
Wearable and smartphone technology innovations have propelled the growth of Pedestrian Navigation Services (PNS). PNS need a map-matching process to project a user's locations onto maps. Many map-matching techniques have been developed for vehicle navigation services. These techniques are inappropriate for PNS because pedestrians move, stop, and turn in different ways compared to vehicles. In a...
متن کاملEmergency Vehicle Trip Analysis using GPS AVL Data: A Dynamic Program for Map Matching
We outline a new dynamic programming approach for determining the most likely route taken by a vehicle given a set of GPS locations and times recorded by an AVL (automatic vehicle location) system. By using optimisation approaches, this map matching algorithm can solve a complex maximum likelihood problem that takes into account data such as the vehicle’s location, heading, and speed. The optim...
